What is COLOURizd™ QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn?

COLOURizd™ QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn is a revolutionary coloration technology developed by COLOURizd™ . It injects pigment and a binder into a yarn fiber bundle, creating beautifully colored yarns through a continuous process. This innovative method can replace traditional fiber reactive dyeing, indigo dyeing, or pigment dyeing in many cases. The technology allows for a wide range of colors and textures while minimizing processing steps, resulting in a more sustainable and efficient approach to textile coloration.

How can I tell the difference between products created using the COLOURizd™ technology and conventionally produced products?

COLOURizd™ As a consumer, you CANNOT see the difference in look or performance. The products appearance is identical to some of your most loved products in your closet. Our technology team has worked hard to mimic the looks that consumers love and ensure that performance remains equal and in most cases is better than the traditionally produced product.

If you are a textile expert, you can see the differences when there is a side by side comparison done under a high powered microscope. But we feel most consumers won’t go through this trouble, they will just see a product that they love.

How can I use yarns made with COLOURizd™ and what are the advantages?

COLOURizd™ Yarns made with COLOURizd™ can be used in a variety of applications, including knitted fabrics, woven fabrics, and sweaters, for both the apparel and home markets. The advantages of using yarns made with COLOURizd™ are:

• Sustainability: COLOURizd™ technology significantly reduces water consumption, energy usage, and chemical waste, making it an environmentally friendly option for textile coloration.

• Efficiency: The QuantumCOLOUR™ process allows for more efficient coloration, minimizing the need for further wet finishing. This saves time and resources throughout the product development supply chain.

• Consistency: COLOURizd™ ensures consistent and repeatable colors batch after batch, eliminating the need for shade bands of color typically seen in traditional dyeing methods.

• Versatility: COLOURizd™’s QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn can create a full spectrum of colors, including brights, lights, and darks, allowing designers to achieve any desired hue.

• Improved Performance: Yarns produced using the QuantumCOLOUR™ technology exhibit superior performance attributes, such as increased tensile strength, reduced dye bleeding, and excellent color retention over multiple launderings.

• Cost Savings: The COLOURizd™ process leads to cost savings throughout the product development supply chain by eliminating the need for bleaching yarns before processing, reducing chemical consumption, and minimizing washing at the fabric or garment stage.

By using yarns made with COLOURizd™, you can produce high-quality, sustainable textiles with consistent colors and improved performance characteristics.

What is the environmental impact of the COLOURizd™ QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn technology?

The COLOURizd™ QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn technology has a significantly lower environmental impact compared to traditional yarn dyeing methods. Its positive effects on the environment include:

• Reduced water consumption: The QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn technology uses minimal water in the coloration process, helping to conserve this essential natural resource. QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn uses only .5L of water per Kg of yarn, which is a 98% reduction when compared to fiber reactive yarn dye.

• Lower energy usage: The COLOURizd™ process requires less energy for heating and cooling compared to conventional dyeing methods, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint of 29.50 KgCO2e/Kg of product compared to 109.70 KgCO2e/Kg of product in conventional processes resulting in a 73% reduction in carbon foot print.

• Decreased chemical waste: The precise application of colorants using QuantumCOLOUR™ technology results in less waste and fewer chemicals. Chemical are also applied with a 98% use rate. Also the COLOURizd™ QuantumCOLOUR™ process does not use salt and all chemicals are ZDHC approved.

• Elimination of pre-treatment steps: The COLOURizd™ process does not require bleaching or other pre-treatment steps, reducing the overall environmental impact of the coloration process.

• Minimized wastewater pollution: QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn has zero wastewater discharge from it;s process.

Additionally the “what you see is what you get” applicatin greatly reduces further wet finishing adding another level of sustainablity.

• Enhanced product longevity: Yarns created using the QuantumCOLOUR™ process exhibit improved performance attributes, such as color retention and tensile strength, leading to longer-lasting products and reduced textile waste.

By adopting COLOURizd™ QuantumCOLOUR™ for yarn technology, textile manufacturers can significantly reduce their environmental impact, achieving 73% carbon footprint (emissions) savings compared to conventional processes and contributing to a more sustainable future for the industry.

Aren’t sustainable products more expensive?

COLOURizd™ products are NOT more expensive than traditionally made products. As a matter of fact, they can be produced less expensively due to a savings of water and energy, a reduction in processing steps, and higher efficiencies in chemical usage.

What colors can you make with COLOURizd™?

COLOURizd™ technology is capable of creating an extensive range of colors by utilizing a pigment and binder system.

At present, there are hundreds of color formulas employed in production, covering a broad spectrum from ivory to charcoal. All hues, including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet, are represented in the COLOURizd™ process. While the system does not produce a solid white color, as this is achieved through a bleach process, it can generate a wide variety of shades. Additionally, COLOURizd™ does not produce a solid black yarn, but it does create a dark charcoal color.

Overall, COLOURizd™ offers textile manufacturers a versatile and environmentally conscious coloration solution that can accommodate diverse color requirements for their product

Many of your samples look like Indigo denim, are they really Indigo?

COLOURizd™ has the ability to emulate indigo dyed fabrics without using Indigo Dyes. Indigo is loved for the depth of color layers and its ability to look worn and comfortable. While Indigo yarns are a desirable look they have many issues with processing. COLOURizd™ has been used successfully to emulate indigo dyed fabrics. While no actual indigo dye is used in creating these looks the consumer cannot see or feel a difference. COLOURizd™ fabrics exceed indigo fabrics in many aspect of performance and manufacturability.

The following statements compare performance attributes between traditional indigo dying methods and COLOURizd™ .

• Crocking/Color Transfer: Yarns processed using the COLOURizd™ meet or exceed retail standards for crocking. Crocking is the transfer of dye from the surface of a dyed or printed fabric onto another surface by rubbing. If you have ever seen a woman with a white purse that has been stained blue by their denim jacket you have seen textile crocking in action.

• Color Bleeding: Yarns processed using the COLOURizd™ do not bleed so there is no staining of lighter colors that are next to or processed with COLOURizd™ yarns. In a very practical sense this means that pocket bags on jeans remain the color you want them to be and don’t blue out with washing.

• Ability to knit: While indigo dyed garments are a desired fashion statement they rarely appear in knitted garments or sweaters. This is because traditionally indigo dyes damage production equipment. In addition, indigo dyed yarns become weaker after dying and therefore are harder to process. In contrast, COLOURizd™ yarns are easily knit into light weight knit fabrics or sweaters. These yarns do not have issues with dye transfer and the yarns are stronger after coloration.

• Color Consistency: Most jean shades are create through washing down dark indigo fabrics. This process is highly variable and results in the retailer needing to accept shade bands of color. In contrast, fabrics made with the COLOURizd™ process are consistent and easily reproduced batch after batch.
